Golf Ties for 4th At Yale Spring Opener

NEW HAVEN, CT - Temple men's golf tied for fourth Saturday at the 12-team Yale Spring Opener held on the par 70 Yale University Golf Club. The Owls were tied with Princeton, one stroke behind Hartford and 15 back of tournament champion Villanova in the two round, one-day event.
Freshman Brandon Matthews (72-74) led the Owls and tied for seventh overall with a six-over 146 while senior Devin Bibeau (73-75, 148) was tied for 12th at eight-over. Junior Matthew Crescenzo (77-75, 152) and sophomore Matt Teesdale (75-78, 153) were right behind, finishing tied for 23rd and 25th, respectively. Sophomore Paul Carbone (76-78, 154) rounded out the Owls five in 30th place.
Villanova won with a two-round total of 583. They were followed by Yale (592), Hartford (597), Temple and Princeton (598), Penn (600), Columbia (603), Brown (613), Dartmouth (618), Franklin & Marshall (632), Colgate (637) and Cornell (644).
Princeton's Bernie D'Amato won the tournament with a one-over par 141.
The Owls compete next at the Princeton Invitational on April 13-14.
