Women's Rowing Puts Four Boats into Second Day at Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's rowing had a strong day on the river, advancing four boats to Saturday's final day at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. The Owls' Junior Varsity 8 has a spot in the final secured while the Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and freshman/novice 8 all qualified for the semifinals.

The Owls' Varsity 8, comprised of Kelsey Franks (coxswain), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-8), Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Joanna Sutor (seat-6), Jeanine Lees (seat-5), Moira Meeks (seat-4), Jackie Lees (seat-3), Brittany Adell (seat-2) and Emily Opperman (bow), had a problem with the steering on its boat in its opening heat, bit was able torecover to advance inthe repachage race.

Temple's Junior Varsity 8, comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Victoria Joye (seat-8), Angela Flinn (seat-7), Megan Boyer (seat-6), Sarah Barber (seat-5), Allison Watkins (seat- 4), Callista DiGuardia (seat-3), Annie Buckley (seat-2) and Kara Carson (bow), finished second in its semifinal heat, less than a second behind Bucknell, to advance to the final.

The Owls Novice 8 boat, comprised of Julia Wolanski (coxswain), Stephanie Barber (seat-8), Kathy Bostion (seat-7), Grace Kroner (seat-6), Emily Leyland (seat-5), Elizabeth Clark (seat-4), Amanda Benton (seat-3), Emily Hedrick (seat-2) and Christina Orse (bow), won its heat to advance to the finals.
 
The Owls Varsity 4 boat, comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Blair Bradley (seat-4), Lauren Kidd (seat-3), Lily Papaleo (seat-2) and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow), placed second in its heat to qualify for the semis.
