Women's Rowing Places Three Boats in Grand Final of Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA -
Temple women's rowing had another exceptional day on the river with three boats competing in the grand final at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta.

"Putting three boats in the finals was huge step for the program," said first-year head coach Rebecca Grzybowski. "I am pround of the seniors and the entire team for starting this journey. I am really excited to see what the futre brings."

The Owls' Varsity 8, comprised of Kelsey Franks (coxswain), Paige O' Sullivan (seat-8), Claudia Loeber (seat-7), Joanna Sutor (seat-6), Jeanine Lees (seat-5), Moira Meeks (seat-4), Jackie Lees (seat-3), Brittany Adell (seat-2) and Emily Opperman (bow), won its semifinal heat, easily besting Duquesne and Drexel to garner a spot in the final.  The TU crew placed fifth in the final, two seconds ahead of Dayton and eight seconds behind Duquesne.  Grand valley won the event.

Temple's Junior Varsity 8, comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Victoria Joye (seat-8), Angela Flinn (seat-7), Megan Boyer (seat-6), Sarah Barber (seat-5), Allison Watkins (seat- 4), Callista DiGuardia (seat-3), Annie Buckley (seat-2) and Kara Carson (bow), finished fifth in the final, besting Purdue.  Drexel won the event.

The Owls Novice 8 boat, comprised of Julia Wolanski (coxswain), Stephanie Barber (seat-8), Kathy Bostion (seat-7), Grace Kroner (seat-6), Emily Leyland (seat-5), Elizabeth Clark (seat-4), Amanda Benton (seat-3), Emily Hedrick (seat-2) and Christina Orse (bow), placed second in its semifinal race to gain a spot in the final.  The Owls  finished sixth in that event with Grand Valley posting the win.
 
The Owls varsity 4 boat, comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Blair Bradley (seat-4), Lauren Kidd (seat-3), Lily Papaleo (seat-2) and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow), came in fourth in its semifinal heat, six-tenths of a second behind Duquense, and failed to qualify for the final.
