Four Critical Atlantic 10 Softball Games on Tap This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – For Atlantic 10 and softball fans alike, this weekend's games are exciting as the top four teams in the league battle it out for the regular-season title and seeding at the upcoming Atlantic 10 tournament. Temple (28-22, 13-5) enters the weekend tied for third place in the conference standings, traveling to George Washington for single games on Friday (3 p.m.) and Saturday (12 p.m.), before hosting Fordham for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
The Owls sit just percentage points behind second place George Washington (25-18, 12-4) and enter the weekend tied for third place with Fordham (30-18, 13-5). Saint Joseph's (31-7-1, 14-4), which also faces Fordham and GW?this weekend, sits in first place.
Prior to Sunday's doubleheader, Temple will honor four members of the class of 2013 with Senior Day festivities. Kayla Cook, Daniele Raneri, Ali Robinson and Gina Sciarrone will all be playing their final games at Temple Softball Stadium.
Temple has won six straight following an 8-0 win over Delaware State on Wednesday. In that contest, the Owls hit five homeruns in the first inning, tying an NCAA?record for homers in an inning.
Stephanie Pasquale leads the Atlantic 10 with a sizzling .449 batting average, followed closely by teammate Sarah Prezioso at .430. The classmates are also first and second in the league in RBI with 68 and 55, respectively, and Pasquale is tops with 19 doubles.
As a team, the Owls lead the conference with a .306 average, 320 runs scored and a school-record 86 home runs, exactly twice as many as their opponents. Pasquale leads the way with 14, also a TU single-season mark, and a trio of players have 13 each, including Kelsey Dominik, Robinson, and Prezioso.
Dominik, a rookie who is hitting .292 with 31 RBI, also paces Temple in the circle with a 13-5 record and a 3.88 ERA. Sophomore Jessica Mahoney (7-10) has won her last four decisions, including a two-hit shutout against Delaware State.
