PHILADELPHIA – For the third-straight year, Temple men's tennis player Kacper Rams is one of six student-athletes who have been selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team. Joining him on the squad for the first time is sophomore teammate Kristian Marquart. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
Haverford's Kevin Caulfield was tabbed the 2013 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year for the second-straight year.
Rams boasts a 3.79 GPA with a major in finance, and in 2011 and 2013 was named a member of Temple's Trustee Ten, an honor given to the top-ten student-athletes in terms of GPA at TU. A two-time Atlantic 10 all-conference and all-academic team member, the Katowice, Poland native finished his career with a 51-55 singles mark and a doubles record of 68-35. His final year was mired by injury, which caused him to miss the final nine matches of the season.
Marquart maintains a 3.97 GPA in international business. The Munich, Germany native spent the season playing between the first and third singles flights, posting a 9-17 record that included a 3-1 mark at the top flight and wins in seven of his final nine decisions. In doubles action, Marquart went 9-8, including a 7-4 record with freshman Sam Rundle.
