UPPER SAUCON, PA - Temple University sophomore Brandon Matthews continues his hot summer as he shot an even-par 71 and is tied for fourth with three other golfers at one-over par after the second round of the Pennsylvania Golf Association 100th Amateur Championship Tuesday at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Greg Jarmas, Justin Miller and Brandon Dalinka are tied for the lead at even-par heading into today's final round.

Matthews, who has already qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 12-18 at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., will tee off in the second-to-last group at 9:30 a.m.

The DuPont, Pa. native has already posted wins at the U.S. Amateur Qualifier and the Philadelphia Golf Association Open Championship, where he won the 36-hole event in a four-hole playoff. He also served as an alternate at the U.S. Open Championship held at Merion Golf Club, after shooting a four-under-par 67 in the final round of a sectional qualifier. He had qualified for the Sectional by sinking a birdie putt on the 18th for a round of 76 to place himself in a three-way tie for low score of the day in a local qualifier at the Country Club of SC in Clark Summit, Pa.

During his 2012-13 rookie season at Temple, Matthews had placed second in the 2013 A-10 Championship to earn All-Conference honors and winning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. He also won three tournaments and was named to the PING All-Northeast Region team.
