PHILADELPHIA- Temple University's 2013 men's soccer recruiting class is ranked as the 20th best class in the nation by College Soccer News.
"We are excited for the start of the 2013 season and the start of a new era with our membership in the American Athletic Conference," said Temple head coach David MacWilliams. "We knew that this was a great recruiting class, and it is nice to see the group recognized nationally."
The criteria for the rankings consisted of filling in perceived team needs and the overall potential of the recruits to increase the competitiveness of the team. CSN labeled this year's crop for Temple as "a banner class that they will be able to build on in years to come."
Temple' recruiting class consists of eight freshmen (Alexander Cagle, Mark Grasela, Matt Mahoney, Stefan Mueller, Miguel Polley, Robert Sagel, Vojkan Tomasevic and Dan White) and three transfer players (Jonah Williams, Donovan Fraser, and Anani Mohamed). Three of the freshmen were ranked in the top 100 high school player rankings by CSN: Polley (#57), Sagle (#65), and Mueller (#83). Fraser ranked as the 102nd best high school player in 2012.
Temple is one of seven teams in the American Athletic Conference to have their 2013 recruiting classes ranked. Connecticut (#5) and South Florida (#12) are ranked ahead of Temple. Louisville (#21), SMU (#25), UCF (#27) and Rutgers (#40) finished behind Temple.
