Brandon Matthews Advances to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

BROOKLINE, MA - Temple sophomore golfer Brandon Matthews advanced to match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship Tuesday after carding a two-over 72 at The Country Club to finish the two days of stroke play tied for 20th.
The DuPont, Pa. native was one of 64 golfers (out of 315 competitors) to qualify for match play. He will tee off against UCLA junior Matt Pinizotto of Salinas, Calif. at 10:40 a.m. in thr round of 64.
If Matthews, who carded a two-round total of 141 (+1), defeats Pinizotto (143, +3) on Wednesday, he will advance to Thursday's morning round of 32.
