PHILADELPHIA – Senior Yana Mavrina had a successful day in consolation play at the Cissie Leary Invitational on Saturday, September 21. Mavrina will be the only player representing Temple on Sunday.

After falling in the main bracket of Flight A on Friday, Mavrina picked up on Saturday with a win over Bowdoin's Tiffany Cheng, 6-4, 6-1 in the consolation round of 16. She proceeded to get past Akron's Karolina Maksimava by walkover due to injury, and will face Marie Bedard of Penn State in the A consolation final on Sunday.

Also winning in consolation play on Saturday were Alicia Doms and Minami Okajima. Doms took on Taylor Holden of Rhode Island, defeating her 6-4, 6-2, before dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision against Ksenia Berestetska of Akron in the consolation round of 16. Okajima was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Richmond's Kelsey Williams before bowing out to Bowdoin's Emma Lewis, 7-5, 6-4, in the consolation round of 16.

Freshman Anais Nussaume was the only TU player still active in the main draw and the newcomer saw her quest for a title come to a close with a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Tiana Takenaga of Columbia.

Temple's two doubles teams still active on Saturday both lost their matches to conclude play.

Mavrina will play on Sunday following the conclusion of doubles action, which begins at 9 a.m.
