TEMPLE NOTES...
The Owls are coming off a 1-0 win over Villanova at home last Saturday. It was the first win by an American Athletic School over a Big East school. The win snapped a two game-losing streak for the Owls, both coming on the road and by one goal (1-0 Saint Joseph's and 2-1 Delaware).  They currently are tied for 5th in the Mid-Atlantic region of the National Soccer Coaches Association of American's latest.
Goalkeeper Dan Scheck has had a stellar start to the season with non-conference play. He has recorded shutouts in all five wins for the Owls with 27 total saves, and only has allowed three goals all season. He was named Goalie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference and Defender of the Week for the Philadelphia Soccer Six on September 9th. Scheck leads the American Athletic Conference in shutouts, goal allowed average, save percentage, and is second in total saves.
UConn and Temple are tied for fewest goals allowed this season in the American Athletic Conference.
Jared Martinelli is already off to a blistering start of the 2013 season. He has five goals and two assists to lead the team, including his first career hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Wofford. His 12 points are tied for the lead in the American Athletic Conference.
Ranked as the #20 recruiting class of 2013, the newcomers for the Owls have already made an impact. Seven newcomers have played, with Stefan Mueller and Robert Sagel starting all seven games. Sagel has made the biggest impact so far. He scored his first collegiate goal against Hofstra off a header from a corner kick by Martinelli. His goal helped him earn weekly honor roll for the American Athletic Conference.
Donovan Fraser was Philadelphia Soccer Six Rookie of the Week after scoring his first collegiate goal to beat Villanova.
