Women's Soccer to Begin Conference Play Against Houston

AMBLER, Pa.  –
Women's soccer is getting set to host Houston for the first game ever in the American Athletic Conference for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff at the Ambler Sports Complex.  The Owls are coming off a 2-1 loss to Delaware last Sunday.  Live stats and a stream will be available for both games by clicking the link above.

TEMPLE NOTES...

The Owls finished non-conference with a 5-3-1 record.  The Owls started the season with four straight victories on the road, the best start in team history.  The five wins this season matches the total of wins of each the previous two seasons.

Goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff has recorded six shutouts on the season, playing every single minute for the Owls.  She has only allowed four goals all season with 29 saves and a .879 save percentage.  She has been on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll two times for her strong play early in the season.

The Owls have featured a balanced scoring attack, with seven different players scoring goals and 11 players recording points.  Ingrid Mello leads the team with three goals, and Erin Lafferty and Alyssa Kirk each have two goals as well.

Owls are 4-0-1 on the road and 1-3 at home.

Of the 24 players that have participated in a game this season, only three are upperclassmen.

Outscoring opponents 11-4 this season.

HOUSTON NOTES...

The Cougars have started the season 3-4.  Like the Owls, the Cougars started their season with consecutive games on the road.  They went 0-1-2 on the road trip.  They won their previous game against Texas A&M Corpus Christi for the first win of the season.

Have only scored three goals all season.  Kayla Walker leads the team with four points, and has only started one game this season.  A total of four players have points for the Cougars.

Cami Koski and Sydney George have split the season as starting goalkeepers.  Koski has started three games, allowed two goals, and recorded 40 saves with two shutouts.  She is fourth in nation with an average of 10 saves per game.  George has started the other three games, allowed three goals, and made 18 saves with one shutout.

Opponents are outshooting the Cougars 141-43.

The Cougars have been shutout four of their six games this season.

Lone win came on the road against Texas A&M Corpus Christi , 2-1.
