Women's Soccer Set to Host SMU

Women's soccer is getting set to host SMU for its second game in the American Athletic Conference with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at the Ambler Sports Complex.   The Owls are coming off a 2-1 loss to Delaware last Sunday.  Live stats and a stream will be available for both games by clicking the links above.

TEMPLE NOTES...

After finishing non-conference with a 5-3-1 record, the Owls started conference play with a 2-0 win at home against Houston.  The six wins this season is the most in a season since the 2010 squad ended the season with six victories. 

The Owls are outscoring opponents 13-4 this season.

Goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff has recorded seven shutouts on the season, playing every single minute for the Owls.  She has only allowed four goals all season with 33 saves and a .892 save percentage.  She has been on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll two times for her strong play early in the season.

The Owls have featured a balanced scoring attack, with eight different players scoring goals and 13 players recording points.  Ingrid Mello leads the team with three goals, and Erin Lafferty, Alyssa Kirk and Kelly Farrell each have two goals as well.  Farrell leads the team in points with seven.

Missing the first four games and another game due to injuries, Paige Rachel scored her first points against Houston with an insurance goal and the lone assist on the game-winning goal.

The Owls are 4-0-1 on the road and 2-3 at home

Of the 24 players that have participated in a game this season for the Owls, only three are upperclassmen

SMU NOTES...

The Mustangs finished non-conference play with a 5-3 record.  They lost their first American Athletic Conference game at UConn on Thursday 2-1.  They're playing two consecutive road games in four days after being off nine days due to a home game against DePaul being cancelled. 

The Mustangs are outscoring opponents 22-10, highlighted by a 6-1 win at home against Louisiana-Monroe to start the season.

Shelby Redman leads the team in points (16) and goals (seven).  Kelsey Gorner (four goals, one assist), Taylor Barg (two goals, five assists), and Courtney Smith (one goal, seven assists) are all tied for second on the team with nine points.

Shannon Moroney and Lauryn Bodden have both seen action in goal for the Mustangs.  Moroney has played in eight games with a 4-4-0 record.  In 585:21 minutes and seconds, she has allowed nine goals and made 22 saves for a save percentage of .710.  Bodden has played in five games with a 1-0-0 record.  She has allowed one goal in 233:24 minutes and seconds and made 10 saves with a save percentage of .909.They have a total of four shutouts, with each goalie recording one shutout and combining for two together.

Mustangs are 4-1-0 at home and 1-3-0 on the road.
