Women's Soccer Loses to Rider 1-0

9.8.13 | Women's Soccer

AMBLER, Pa. – Temple women's soccer dropped a home decision to Rider 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Ambler Sports Complex. The loss makes the Owls' record 4-2 for the 2013 season.

The first half was scoreless as both teams played each other tight.  Six minutes into the second half, Bronc's Michelle Iacono scored off a turnover by the Owls.

Temple had several chances afterward to score but couldn't convert.  Their best chance came off a penalty kick after a hand ball by Rider.  Karly O'Toole's shot was denied on a spectular save by Rider's goalie Bethany-Ma Howard, and Alyssa Kirk's follow up chance was also stopped.

Goalie Shauni Kerkhoff got the loss for the Owls, making her record for the season 4-2.  She made two saves on Rider's three shots on goal.

Temple had a total of 26 shots.

The Owls continue non-conference play with another home game against Binghamton this Friday at 4:00 p.m.  Binghamton is 4-1 this season.
