Paulus Goes Undefeated at VCU 4+1 Tournament, Owls Drop Two Matches

RICHMOND, Va. – The Temple men's tennis team got the 2014 spring season underway with two matches at the VCU 4+1 Tournament on Saturday, January 18. The Owls dropped a 4-1 decision to Richmond before falling to James Madison, 3-2.
Against the Spiders, Nicolas Paulus was the lone Temple winner, defeating Canyon Teague at the fourth singles flight, 6-0, 6-2.
Paulus continued his winning ways with another singles victory against James Madison. The sophomore defeated Miljan Ruzic at the fourth flight, 6-3, 6-3. Kristian Marquart and Vineet Naran also got a point for the Owls with their three set battle in doubles against Nield Kathol and Mason Smith. The TU duo dropped the first set, 6-7(11), before bouncing back to win 6-4 and 13-11.
Temple, 0-2, is back in action on Friday, January 31, with a 6 p.m. match at UMBC.
