BLACKSBURG, Va. - Temple's women's tennis team has two players competing at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Virgina Tech at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Dina Karina and Monet Stuckey-Willis played in the doubles draw on Friday and Stuckey-Willis also competed in the qualifying singles draw.
Karina and Stuckey-Willis opened doubles play against Kimmy Herrock and Sarah Khan from James Madison, winning the match 8-3 to move on to the round of 16 in the first half of the doubles bracket. The pair will take on Maria Groner and Olivia Thaler from William and Mary at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Stuckey-Willis won her first match played in the qualifying singles draw 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Gemma Valls from Radford before dropping her second match in the round of 16 to VCU's Ludivine Burguiere 6-2, 6-2. But, because of a drop out by Penn State's Devan McCluskey in the singles main draw, Stuckey-Willis will replace her spot and compete in the main draw of 64 Saturday morning at 11 a.m. against the No. 3 seeded Maci Epstein of Virginia.
Karina will also compete in the singles main draw on Saturday against Taylor Shukow from Penn State at 2:30 p.m.
