AMBLER, Pa. – Temple women's soccer fell 2-0 to USF Sunday afternoon in Ambler, Pa. Temple drops to 10-6-1 and 3-4-1 in the conference while USF stands at 9-6-1 and 4-3-0 in the conference.
USF gained control early in the first half as Demi Stokes scored off a penalty kick at the 5:35 minute mark. However, the fight was in the Owls favor as they out-shot the Bulls 11-4. Temple had several quality attempts and had six corner kicks, but couldn't find the net. The half ended USF 1-0.
During the second half, USF picked up the tempo and continued to press Temple. USF scored again at the 78:31 minute mark off a free kick. Temple was able to get some quality shots, but could not find the net. The score ended 2-0 USF at the end of regulation. Temple out-shot USF 14-11.
"Close one," said head coach Seamus O'Connor. "We had our chances but we didn't take them and they had theirs and they took them. The girls worked really hard for 90 minutes. That was another game were we let up a goal on a set play, so as coaches we got to figure out how to stop doing that. Overall, I thought the girls played hard and we created enough chances to get something out of the game. We will try and figure out if it's tactical or personnel and we will make some changes and bounce back Wednesday night."
The Owls will go on the road this Wednesday, Oct. 22nd against Delaware State. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
