10.19.14 | Women's Tennis
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Dina Karina and Monet Stuckey-Willis continued their run for a doubles title on Sunday at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, advancing to the semifinals. The tournament is being held at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center from Oct. 17-21.
Karina and Stuckey-Willis teamed up to defeat Francesca Fusinato and Kelly Williford, the No. 7 seed from Virginia Tech, 8-7(5) in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning. The duo will take on the No. 1 seeded Maci Epstein and Stephanie Nauta of Virginia Monday morning for a spot in the semifinals on the line.
"We're really pleased with the way our girls have been performing, especially in doubles," said head coach Steve Mauro. "Over the past couple of days they have beat some really competitive schools like William and Mary and top-ranked Virginia Tech. It will be a tough match against Virginia tomorrow morning but hopefully the girls will pull it out and make it to the final round."
