Matthews Tied for Second After First Day at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, NC - Junior Brandon Matthews shot a three-under 139 over the first two rounds of play at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate Monday to tie for second among the 93 competing golfers at the 18-team two-day tournament held at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State.
As a team, Temple was tied for 10th overall with host NC State leading the field. Â East Tennessee State's Adrian Meronk topped the individuals with a four-under 138.
Matthews, who turned in two Top 10 finishes to open the 2014-15 season, shot a one-under 70 in the morning round and then went one better with a 69 in the afternoon session.
Senior transfer Pat Ross was next for the Owls, tying for 52nd overall with a nine-over 151 (77-74). Â Senior Matt Teesdale (75-77) was one behind Ross and tied for 57th while freshmen Evan Thornton (82-75) and Mark Farley (76-81) rounded out the Temple quintet with 157s to tie for 80th.
