Golf In 16th Place at Wendy's Kiawah Classic after Day One

CHARLESTON, S.C. -
Senior Patrick Ross carded a two-over 74 to tie for 26th at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic held at the 7,061-yard, par 72 Turtle Point Golf Course in Charleston, S.C.  As a team, the Owls were tied for 16th in the 20-team field.

Missouri and Winthrop are tied for the lead with one-over par 289s.  Georgia Regents- Augusta was one back while Jacksonville State and Richmond were tied for fourth just six shots off the pace.  The Owls are tied with George Washington, 18 strokes off the pace with a 307.

Ross was followed by junior Brandon Matthews, who shot an uncharacteristic five-over 77 to tie teammate Mark Farley for 45th place in the 108-player field.  Senior Matt Teesdale finished the day with a seven-over 79 (t-71st) while freshman Evan Thornton rounded out the Owls squad with an 85 (t-103).

Temple will look to rebound Monday in the second day of the three-day tournament.
