Golf in 15th Place After Day Two of Kiawah Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. -
After an uncharacteristic five-over par first round, junior Brandon Matthews shot a one-under 71 to tie for 22nd overall and lead the Owls after the second day of play at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic.  The Owls are in 15th place of the 19 teams at the three-day event held at the 7,061-yard, par 72 Turtle Point Golf Course in Charleston, S.C.  

Matthews was closely followed by senior Patrick Ross, who carded a 75 on the day to tie for 30th place in the 108-player field with a five-over 149, one shot back of Matthews. Freshman Mark Farley (77-76, 153) was next for Temple and tied for 56th while senior Matt Teesdale (79-78, 157) and freshman Evan Thornton (85-79, 164), rounded out the Owls squad tied for 81st and 99th, respectively.  

Winthrop leads the 20-team field with a 583, four strokes ahead of Missouri (587). Georgia Regents- Augusta, Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State are three shots back and tied for third just six shots off the pace.  The Owls are 23 shots off the pace with a 607 total.

Temple conclude the three-day tournament on Tuesday.
