Brandon Matthews Named American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Month

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Brandon Matthews was named the American Men's Golfer of the Month for the month of October.

Matthews averaged below par, 70.4 strokes per round, over seven rounds and three tournaments in October. He had top-seven finishes in each of the three Owls matches, including winning the Temple Invitational with a two-under 138.Â
The DuPont, Pa. native (Pittston Area) carded a 69 in each round to win the Temple Invitational by three strokes and helped the Owls win their first team title since the 2013 Wildcat Invitational. He tied for sixth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate with a one-under 212 and tied for seventh at the Georgetown Intercollegiate with a one-over 143.
