As all of Owl Nation is preparing for a joyous holiday season with family and friends, we would like to look back and be thankful for all that has happened with Temple Athletics.  There has been so much to be thankful for, especially this fall.

For the first time in nearly a quarter century, Temple Field Hockey had a player garner first team All-American honors, as senior Amber Youtz led the nation in scoring.  Her play helped keep the Owls among the nation's Top 20 for most of the season.

Women's Soccer's resurgence cannot be forgotten as the Owls won their first seven games of the season, and tied the school record with 11 victories. The team returns all but one player for next season and looks poised to continue this success.

Volleyball also had a strong turnaround, posting its most wins in 12 years, finishing 24-8 overall and 15-5 in American Athletic Conference play.

Last, but certainly not least, was the performance of Temple Football.  The Owls tripled their win total and became Bowl-eligible for the fourth time in the last six seasons.  With almost the entire team back, and even stronger bowl affiliations through our conference, our young men should be bowling again in 2015.

Off the field, we are most proud of our student-athletes who have excelled in community service endeavors as well as in the classroom. We have had numerous academic accolades and will be sharing the overall academic data from the fall in the next few weeks.

Now we turn the page and look to the winter where the basketball teams are preparing for conference play, while Women's Fencing, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's Golf and Track & Field are readying for their respective seasons.

Finally, on behalf of the entire athletic department, its student-athletes, coaches and staff, we would like to thank you for all of your support during the 2014 calendar year.  As you may have seen first-hand last night, without your continued generosity, all of our successes would not be possible.

We wish you all the best for 2015 and beyond, and look forward to seeing you on campus in the New Year!
