Women's Basketball Faces Delaware Tonight

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team returns home after a five-game road stretch, taking on Delaware on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Liacouras Center. The 3-3 Owls will look to go above .500 on the season, taking on the 2-3 Blue Hens. 

Temple is coming off an 81-69 win over Harvard in the final game of the Hall of Fame Challenge Tournament. Freshman Tanaya Atkinson scored 20 points and added seven boards, en route to MVP honors. Sophomore Feyond Fitzgerald sparked a second-half comeback with 11 points in the frame, while senior Tyonna Williams also came up big in the second half, scoring all 10 of her points in the final 20 minutes. Freshman Khadijah Berger scored the first 13 points of her career, including connecting on four of five three point attempts.

Fitzgerald leads the Owls in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. Rookie Alliya Butts (13.2) and Atkinson (12.7), as well as Williams (10.5) also contribute double-digit scoring totals to Temple. Sophomore Safiya Martin is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 9.2 boards per game, while junior Erica Covile averages 7.3 and Atkinson contributes 6.3

Delaware heads to Philadelphia after a 68-46 victory over Vermont on Saturday. Junior Courtni Green dropped a career-high 30 points, also adding eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in the victory. Senior Stephanie Leon notched nine points on 3-for-3 shooting with three free throws in addition to six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. 

Leading the Blue Hens this season, Green is averaging 16.6 points per game, while Erika Brown has chipped in with 12.2. Joy Caracciolo averages 9.5 rebounds per game for Delaware, while Jodi Salyer has 12 assists on the season. 

Temple leads the all-time series with Delaware, 11-8, including winning the last three match-ups between the teams. Temple picked up a 70-58 win on the road against the Blue Hens last season, while Delaware's last win in the series came in 1992.
