Men's Basketball Takes on Towson Wednesday
12.8.14 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA - After a week away from the friendly confines of the Liacouras Center, the Temple men's basketball team returns to its home venue for a Wednesday matchup against Towson (8:00 p.m./ESPN3/1210 AM WPHT). Â
The Owls (5-3) are a perfect 4-0 in their on-campus arena and are coming off a hard-fought 58-57 win over Big 5 rival La Salle at The Palestra Saturday. Â Temple will be looking to extract a little revenge on Towson after falling to the Tigers, 75-69, last season at their new SECU Arena.
Temple Athletics is partnering with The Liacouras Center and Philabundance, Delaware Valley's hunger relief organization, on a food drive at this game. Â Fans bringing canned food items to the Liacouras Center Box Office the night of the game will save $5 off all seats in the arena.
Junior guard Quenton DeCosey, the reigning Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, leads the Owls in scoring with a 14,1 average. Â DeCosey, who is one point higher than backcourt mate Will Cummings (14.0 ppg.), has scored in double figures in the last seven games.
Cummings, a senior co-captain, tops the Cherry and White in rebounding (6.5 rpg.), assists (25) and steals (11) while playing 36.9 minutes per contest.
Sophomore Josh Brown (8.6 ppg.) has provided a spark off the bench while sophomores Mark Williams (7.8 ppg., 6.0 rpg.) and Daniel Dingle (7.0 ppg.) have been solid in the frontcourt.
Junior guard Four McGlynn tops Towson in scoring (13.6 ppg.) and three-pointers (15-39, .385). Â Sophomore forward John Davis is the only other Tiger averaging double figures, tallying 11.3 points and a team-best 9.2 rebounds per game while coming off the bench.
Towson (7-2) has dominated the backboards, out-rebounding opponents by 11.0 caroms per game. Â The Tigers two losses came on the road to Alabama and Georgetown.Â
