Jared Martinelli Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple's Jared Martinelli is one of 11 to be named to the 2014 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team. Martinelli is a junior, a starting midfielder/forward and has a 3.79 grade-point-average as a Risk Management and Insurance Major.
Michael Superdock of Swarthmore College was tabbed this year's Performer of the Year. The team comprises student-athletes across all three NCAA divisions and is voted on by the sports information directors at the 29 colleges and universities in the metro area.
To be considered for the Academic All-Area Team, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.20 GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.
Martinelli, a native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., was selected to the American Athletic Conference Second-Team after he finished second on the team in scoring with eight points and leaded Temple in assists (four). In his three seasons so far he is tied for sixth in career assists in Temple history with 19.
