PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics won the Sixth Annual Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Pearson-McGonigle Hall with a score of 191.15. The Owls placed first ahead of Cornell (191.025), Penn (188.35), West Chester (187.125) and Ursinus (184.225).
It all came down to the floor for the Owls. After struggling on the floor in previous meets, the Owls responded with a big performance to earn the win. Jasmine Johnson led the way with a 9.8, followed by Brittanie DeMeno's 9.700. Collectively, the team scored a 48.45 for the event, their highest event score.
Temple started the meet on vault, garnering a 47.225. Jasmine Johnson once again had the highest score with 9.55. Victoria Reggiani was right behind her with a 9.525.
Temple then went to the bars, earning a score of 47.350. Co-captain Heather Zaniewski had the highest score with a routine earning her a 9.70.Â
Victoria Reggiani was second in the event for Temple with a 9.50.
Up next was the beam for the Owls. They posted a solid team score of 48.125. All five gymnasts finished with a score of above 9.5. Sylvie Borschel and Alexis Arena tied for the best score for the Owls with 9.675.
The Owls return to action next Saturday at Penn at 12:00 p.m. that will include Brockport and SUNY Cortland.
