Women's Tennis Hands Visiting St. Francis (N.Y.) 7-0 Defeat

PHILADELPHIA – Temple's women's tennis team dominated visiting St. Francis (N.Y.) on Sunday, February 9, dropping just one game in singles and one game in doubles on the way to a 7-0 victory. The match was played at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center.
The duo of sophomore Jasmine Merali and freshman Mariana Bedon got the scoring started with a 6-1 win at third doubles. The victory was the first of either players collegiate career. The Owls No. 1 and No. 2 teams followed suit, both winning in shutout fashion, 6-0, to secure the doubles point.
The success didn't stop with singles play. The Cherry & White players won in straight-set shutouts in five of six matches, easly coming away with the 7-0 victory.
The girls came out strong today," commented head coach Steve Mauro. "Everyone played well and I am very happy for Jasmine (Merali) and Mariana (Bedon) for picking up the first wins in their career."
Temple will be back in action on Saturday, February 15, when it hosts former Atlantic 10 rival Xavier for a 4 p.m. match at Legacy.
