2.12.14 | Men's Tennis
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's tennis team dropped a close match to visiting Drexel on Wednesday morning, falling 4-3 to the cross-city rival. The match was played at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center.
The doubles point came down to the first flight after the two teams split the second and third flights. It was the Dragons coming away with the 1-0 lead after a 6-4 victory at No. 1.
The Owls quickly regained the lead, going up 3-1 with wins at the sixth, fourth and second flights, respectively, to start singles play. Hicham Belkssir got things started with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat of Paul Stauskas at No. 6. Kristian Marquart followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Skyler Davis at the fourth flight, and Nicolas Paulus made it a 3-1 TU advantage with his 6-2, 6-4 win over Alex Fioravante at No. 2.
That would be the end of Temple's scoring, however, as the visitors came back to win the final three singles matches and take the victory.
The Cherry & White return to action on Saturday, February 15, with a match against visiting Xavier, slated to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
