Women's Basketball Hosts Houston in Home Finale on Monday Night

SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 13-15 overall and 7-10 in American Athletic Conference play after a 64-54 win at UCF on March 1.
After 28 games, freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 12.5 points and 4.0 assists per game. Senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) follows with 10.3 ppg and a team-best 7.4 rpg. Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) adds 9.9 points and a Conference-best .902 shooting from the free throw line. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) adds 9.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Junior Rateska Brown (Alvin, S.C.) comes off the bench for 8.3 ppg and 2.4 rpg, while sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) averages 8.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg.
Temple is the only school in the American Athletic Conference to have five scorers among the Top 30 best scorers in the league.

The Cougars, under the guidance of interim head coach Wade Scott, stand 5-23 overall and 1-16 in American play after a 55-45 loss to Memphis on March 1.
Senior forward Te'onna Campbell is the Cougars' top scorer with 9.8 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Sophomore forward Marche' Amerson follows with 9.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg.
SERIES VS. COUGARS
This is the just the second meeting between Temple and Houston in women's basketball action. The Owls lead 1-0.
On February 4, 2014, Temple claimed a 79-46 road win at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Five Owls netted double figures, paced by sophomore Erica Covile's career-high 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp, who returned to the starting line-up, followed with a double-double of 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Junior Tyonna Williams finished with 14 points. Junior Rateska Brown came off the bench for 11 points, and freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points.
Overall, Temple out-rebounded Houston, 38-32. The Owls shot a season-high 57 percent (32-56) from the field, while the Cougars shot 33 percent (18-54). Temple shot 69 percent from the free throw line compared to UH's 30 percent.
