WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Sophomore Brandon Matthews carded a one-under 69 on the final round of competition Tuesday to help Temple men's golf tie for 13th overall at at the 27-tea, Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate held at the par-70, 6,765 yards Kingsmill Resort River Course.
Matthews placed second overall for the Owls, and tied for 37th overall with a 12-over 222 (81-72-69). Junior Matt Teesdale, the most consistent Temple golfer over the three-day event, led the team and tied for 25th with a 10-over 220 (74-74-72).
Junior Matt Teesdale, who shot a 74 for the second straight day, still leads the Owls and is tied for 44th with a 148. Junior Mike Amole is tied for 70th after a second straight round of 76. Matthews (81-72, 153) was next for Temple and tied for 77th.
Senior Matthew Crescenzo (80-75-73, 228) was next for Temple, and tied for 72nd overall. Junior Mike Amole (76-76-83, 235) and freshman Evan Galbreath (87-75-75, 237) rounded out the field for the Cherry and White in 111th and 117th places, respectively.
Texas Tech won the tournament, defeating UNCG by 13 strokes. The Red Raiders ' Clement Sordet topped the field of 140 golfers wih a two-under 208.
