Schedule
Camden, N.J. - Saturday, March 22nd marks the start of the 32nd annual Murphy Cup Regatta. The regatta will take place on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
Temple Women's Rowing will enter 6 boats, in total, including two varsity 4+, two novice 8+, one junior varsity 8+ and a varsity 8+ boat.
"We are all very excited to be racing on the Cooper River this weekend at the Murphy Cup and compete in our second 2k of race season." said senior team captain Sarah Barber, " being able to go up against some big name teams so early in the spring is a great opportunity for Temple. This race will help us see where we are at this point in our training and tell us where we need to go to be successful throughout our 2014 season."
The Murphy Cup has been hosted by Temple University for several years and was previously held on the Schuylkill River. The regatta has a tradition of expansion and will feature over 175 boats and 1,100 competitors in its 32nd year. Head Coaches Rebecca Grzybowski and Dr. Gavin R. White are on the Regatta Committee along with several other Temple University Administrators.
"The Murphy Cup Regatta is one of our favorite races of the year," said Grzybowski, " It has established itself as a great early season competition and a wonderful tradition for the entire Temple Rowing family. On the women's side, we are looking forward to seeing a continued development of speed as we build toward the championship portion of our season in late April."
The Owls will hit the water at 9:07am, beginning with the second heat of the women's varsity 4+ .
