Matthews Cards 69 To Lead Men's Golf To Seventh Place After First Round At Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, SC - Sophomore Brandon Matthews carded a three-under 69 to help lift Temple men's golf to a tie for seventh in the 18-team Furman Intercollegiate Friday afternoon. The 42nd Annual Furman Intercollegiate is being held on the par 72, 6,994 yards Furman University Golf Course.
Matthews tied for third overall in the 111-player field. Junior Matt Teesdale was next for the Owls, and tied for 15th overall with an even-par 72 Â
Senior Matthew Crescenzo was one stroke back of Teesdale and tied for 28th. Junior Mike Amole carded a 78 (t91) and freshman Evan Galbreath (85, 111) rounded out the field for the Cherry and White.
The Owls (292) are seven strokes behind Virginia Tech (285) who leads the field. The Hokies Trevor Cone tops the field with a six-under 66.
