DALLAS, Texas - In its second-ever American Athletic Conference match, the Temple women's tennis team came up short against a tough SMU team, falling 7-0 to the Mustangs on Thursday, March 7. TU drops to 3-7 overall, while SMU improves to 4-8.
The host team earned the doubles point with wins at the first and second flights. Rebecca Breland and Dina Karina helped Temple avoid the sweep with their 8-6 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Mustangs won five of the six matches in straight sets to cruise to the victory. Alicia Doms forced three sets at the first flight, ultimately dropping a 3-6, 6-1, 6-7(11) match to Vaszilisza Bulgakova.
TU returns to action on Tuesday, March 11, with a 4 p.m. match at Lehigh.
