Women Gymnastics Ends Season at USAG Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I – Temple women's gymnastics concluded their 2014 season with the USAG Championships this weekend at Brown University, placing fourth in the semifinals with a team score of 190.75.  Lauren Capone finished ninth in the vault finals on Sunday while Reagan Oliveri was second on the balance beam.

Temple's best event came on vault with an event score of 48.65.  All six gymnasts had at least a 9.6.  Capone had the top score of 9.8.  Jasmine Johnson was right behind Capone with a 9.775.  Sylvie Borschel and Brittanie DeMeno tied each other with a score of 9.725

The bars produced another event score over 48 with 48.5.  Reagan Oliveri led the Owls with a 9.8.  Jean Alban garnered a 9.75 while Briana Odom had a 9.7.

Oliveri had the top score for Temple on the balance beam with a 9.75.  Borschel performed a routine earning her 9.675 to help Temple score a 47.85 on the event.

Odom's floor routine was scored a 9.575, the best score on floor for Temple.  The Owls finished with a 45.75 on the event.

Capone and Oliveri qualified for the event finals with their scores on team competition.  Oliveri's routine on balance beam garnered another 9.8 to get second place, only five tenths off from first place.  Capone received a 9.325 on vault that earned her ninth place.

Odom was named first team USAG All-American on all-around.  Oliveri earned first team honors on beam while Capone also earned the honors on vault.  Johnson was named to the second team .
