Golf Places 11th at Wolfpack Spring Open

RALEIGH, NC -
Junior Mike Amole led Temple in a golf tournament for the first time in his career with a four-over 76, but the Owls were only able to place 11th our of 15 teams in the rain-shortened Wolfpack Spring Open.

Facing a strong field on N.C. State's par 72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Temple shot a 23-over 311 to finish 19 shots behind first-place Virginia.  

Amole ended the day tied for 26th overall.

Sophomore Brandon Matthews, who was among the field's Top 10 golfers until struggling on the final three holes, finished with a 78 to tie teammate Matt Teesdale and finish tied for 48th overall.  

Senior Matthew Crescenzo was one shot back and tied for 54th overall while freshman Evan Galbreath rounded out the Owls with an 82 (t-68th).

North Carolina State]s Logan Harrell won the event with a five-under 67.

Temple next travels to Palm Harbor, FL for the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship to be held at Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club [Copperhead Course] April 27-29.
