Women's Rowing Competes for City Championship at Bergen/Kelly Cup Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Women's Rowing had an eventful afternoon at the Bergen/Kelly Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River on April 26. The Owls competed with boats from Drexel, Saint Joseph's, La Salle, Philadelphia University and Villanova.
The Varsity 8+ boat placed third in the final race for the Kelly Cup. The Owls' boat was comprised of Kelsey Franks (coxswain), Jackie Lees (stroke), Lea Millio (seat-7), Kara Carson (seat-6), Megan Boyer (seat-5), Callista DiGuardia (seat-4), Allison Watkins (seat-3), Emily Opperman (seat-2) and Moira Meekes (bow). Drexel went on to win the championship race with a time of 6:46.6.
The Varsity 8+ B boat finished in second place with a time of 7:01.1, four seconds ahead of Saint Joseph's. The boat was comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Stephanie Barber (stroke), Blair Bradley (seat-7), Victoria Joye (seat-6), Kidd (seat-5), Annie Buckley (seat-4), Emily Leyland (seat-3), Grace Kroner (seat-2) and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow).
The Owls continued the day with the varsity 4+ race. Eleanor Oken (coxswain), along with Lily Papaleo (stroke), Gina Inverso (seat-3), Devin Dakes (seat-2) and Kathy Bostion (bow) led the Temple to victory, with Drexel coming in second.
Temple's Novice 8+ boat was comprised of Nicole Barth (coxswain), Samantha Sederstrand (stroke), Kayla Dorney (seat-7), Taryn Beaver (seat-6), Emily Mehler (seat-5), Rachael Braccia (seat-4), Jenna Bahel (seat-3), Kaitlyn Grisanti (seat-2), and Imani Johnson (bow). The boat finished ahead of Drexel and Saint Joseph's to secure second place in its respective race with a time of 6:56.1.
