Women’s Rowing Finishes Fourth at 2014 American Championship; Two Novice Boats Earn Medals

(coxswain), Jackie Lees (stroke), Lea Millio (seat-7), Kara Carson (seat-6), Allison Watkins (seat-5), Callista DiGuardia (seat-4), Megan Boyer (seat-3), Emily Opperman (seat-2), and Moira Meekes (bow), finished in 6:52 as Louisville won in 6:36.
The second varsity 8+, comprised of Erin Matz (coxswain), Stephanie Barber (stroke), Blair Bradley (seat-7), Victoria Joye (seat-6), Lauren Kidd (seat-5), Annie Buckley (seat-4), Emily Leyland (seat-3), Grace Kroner (seat-2), and Susan O'Neil Coyne (bow), took fourth in 7:03 to Louisville's 6:44.
The varsity 4+ boat, comprised of Eleanor Oken (coxswain), Lily Papaleo (stroke), Gina Inverso (seat-3), Devin Dakes (seat-2), and Kathy Bostion (bow), had the fastest time in the morning trials. However, the Owls finished the final race in 7:49. The Cardinals won in 7:28.
The second varsity 4+, comprised of Julia Wolanski (coxswain), Sarah Barber (seat-4), Kelly Hill (seat-3), Layla Moran (seat-2), and Aimee Meissner (bow), finished in 8:01. Louisville posted a 7:33.
Three Owls earned All-Conference recognition. Senior Megan Boyer (Ephrata, Pa.), the team's Rower of the Year, was named first-team All-Conference, while seniors Jacqueline Lees (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and Ali Watkins (Fleetwood, Pa.) were named to the second team.
