Brandon Matthews Named Under Armour Athlete of the Month for April

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore golfer Brandon Matthews has been selected as the Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Month.
Matthews, who became the first Temple golfer to qualify as an individual to the NCAA Championships Monday, played even par for three tournaments in April, recording a 71.4 stroke average over seven rounds.
The DuPont, Pa. native tied for fourth with four-under par 209 at Princeton Invitational (4/12-13). He followed that with a 78 at the rain-shortened Wolfpack Spring Open (4/20) before finishing the month with an even-par 213 at The American Championship (4/27-29) to earn a guaranteed spot on the all-conference team.
Matthews will be one of 10 individuals and 13 teams to compete in the NC State Regional held at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh from May 15-17. It will the first time a Temple golfer has competed in the NCAAs since 1997 when the Owls team played in the regionals.
