Brandon Matthews Named to American Athletic All-Conference Golf Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore Brandon Matthews has been named to the American Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference Golf team. Matthews, who will compete at the NCAA Regionals next weekend, is one of 12 players named to the squad.
The standout Temple golfer tied for fourth in The American Championship (April 27-29), carding a 73-70-70 for an even-par 213 at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Beach Resort and Golf Club. He will enter the NCAA Championship with a 71.5 stroke average, and eight Top 5 finishes over 12 events. He posted a win at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate on Oct. 20-21.
The all-conference team spans student-athletes from seven schools and is highlighted by three players from Houston. UCF, Louisville and SMU had two players each named to the all-conference team.
The awards were voted on by the league's head coaches.
