PHILADELPHIA - After serving nearly three years as the Business Manager for Temple Athletics, Tim Thiess ('08) has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Finance and Administration.

"I am excited to announce that Tim Thiess will be our new Associate Athletic Director for Finance and Administration," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin Clark. "Tim is an extremely hard worker, and has proven invaluable during his time here at Temple. His knowledge of the field, and of the inner-workings of Temple Athletics make him the perfect fit for the position."

In his new role, Thiess serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the athletics department and is responsible for managing the $44 million athletics department budget and the athletics business office. He also serves as athletics' primary liaison with Human Resources, Office of Management and Budget, Purchasing, Controller's Office, General Accounting, University Counsel, Risk Management and Computer Services.

"I'm very grateful for this opportunity," said Thiess, "and I'm excited to continue working for my alma mater."

As business manager, Thiess assisted with the oversight of day-to-day business operations as well as with the development, management, and oversight of the athletics budget.

Thiess joined the department in September, 2011, after holding positions in the ticket and business offices at Rutgers and Villanova for the previous three years.

While at Rutgers, Thiess served first as the Accounting Assistant and then as Assistant Ticket Manager in charge of overseeing day-to-day operations of the Athletics Ticket Office. Thiess earned his Business/Accounting Certificate while employed at the university. Prior to his stint at Rutgers, Thiess worked for the Villanova Athletics Department as a ticket office intern and athletics business office intern.

Graduating from Temple with cum laude honors in January, 2008, Thiess earned his bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management with a minor in business.
