Women's Soccer Goes on the Road this Weekend to Delaware and La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – The Owls return to action this weekend with another two game road trip. Temple has become familiar with the road as this weekend will mark the sixth and seventh road game in a row. Friday, the Owls head to University of Delaware for a 7:00 p.m. game at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium. Temple closes out the weekend Sunday when it travels up to city rival La Salle. The game is of much significance with LaSalle being a city rival. The game will begin at 3:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
Temple now sits unbeaten at 7-0 for the longest winning streak in program history with their 1-0 win vs. St. Bonaventure last Friday and a 2-1 double overtime win at Cornell Sunday in the championship game of the Cornell Classic. Temple also had four players make the Big Red Shootout All-Tournament Team. The team consisted of three forwards, three midfielders, three defenders, one goalie, plus another player of any position. The players selected for Temple were (GK) Shauni Kerkhoff, (D) Erin Lafferty, (M) Paula Jurewicz and (F) Kelly Farrell. Â

• Temple women's soccer player Shauni Kerkhoff and Kelly Farrell were named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after their performances this weekend.
• Kerkhoff recorded her fourth shutout of the season against St. Bonaventure and recorded three saves in the win. She then went on to compile four saves in a 2-1 double overtime victory over host Cornell on Sunday to earn a place on the All-Tournament team. Kerkhoff for the season currently holds an outstanding .912 save percentage, 31 saves, four shutouts and a 0.42 goals against average.
• Farrell scored both goals in the win over Cornell Sunday. The forward scored a goal both in regulation and overtime in the tournament championship game victory. She also garnered a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Farrell currently leads the team in points (9), shots (18), and tied for the lead in goals (4).
• Temple women's soccer defeated Cornell 2-1 in double overtime Sunday afternoon to win the Cornell Classic. The Owls improve their winning streak to seven games, and now hold the longest winning streak in program history.
• Temple also had four players make the Big Red Shootout All-Tournament Team. • The Owls hold a 0-7-0 all-time record against the Blue Hens. The teams' last match-up was on Sept. 22, 2013 at Ambler Sports Complex, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for Delaware.
• LaSalle comes in with a record of 3-2-2. LaSalle was at home last weekend. The Explorers played Princeton University on Friday, which resulted in a 2-2 tie, and concluded the weekend with James Madison Sunday with a 2-1 victory.
