Women's Tennis Gets Play Underway at Saint Joseph's Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - Two pairs of doubles teams were in action on Friday for the Owls at the Saint Joseph's Invitational. The duos of Monet Stuckey-Willis and Minami Okajima, and Rebecca Breland and Yana Khon each drew a bye in the first round of their respected brackets.
Willis and Okajima started things stongly by defeating their opponents 8-5 in the second round of flight one in order to move on to the semifinals on Saturday. Breland and Khon also defeated their oponents by a score of 8-1 and will contine play on Saturday in the round of eight in flight two.
Mariana Bedon will open singles action for the Owls at 8:30 a.m. in flight one on Saturday, followed by Willis at 11:00 a.m. (flight two), Breland at 12:00 p.m. (flight four), and Okajima at 12:30 p.m. (flight three).
Competition will continue at the Saint Joseph's University Tennis Complex at the Maguire Campus and on Finnesey Courts on Saturday. Information regarding the tournament can be found here.
