PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer travels to State College, Pa. to face No. 16 Penn State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Owls will look for their second win of the 2014 season after splitting a pair of home games last weekend.

HEADLINES
- Temple is 1-1 after opening the 2014 season at home where the Owls beat Sacramento State 3-0 after dropping the season opener to Drexel 1-0 in overtime.
- Forward Olli Tynkkynen earned the first American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week of the season after he scored his first two collegiate goals in the team's 3-0 win against Sacramento State.
- Redshirt-senior defender Jonah Williams garnered the American Athletic Conference Defender of the Week after helping the defense allow only one goal in two games this past weekend, not allowing a single shot on goal for Sacramento State, and assisting on a goal.
- Junior midfielder/forward Jared Martinelli, sophomore defender Robert Sagel and senior goalkeeper Dan Scheck were selected to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team. Scheck was voted by the coaches as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
- Four freshmen have started both games for Temple: Tynkkynen, midfielder Miguel Polley, midfielder Felipe Liborio and midfielder Brendon Creed.
- Temple was predicted to finish fifth in the conference by the preseason coaches' poll.
- Since the start of 2013, Scheck has allowed only 14 goals. He is the all-time career goals against average leader (0.60) and ranks tied for fourth in career wins (15).
- No. 16 Penn State comes into the game with a 2-0-0 record after defeating Oakland 1-0 and St. John's 3-0 at home.
- Penn State leads the all-time series 39-18-8. The Owls won the last game in the series 2-0 on September 9th, 1997.
- The Owls start a four-game road trip at State College, Pa. and won't return home until Sept. 21 for a Philadelphia Soccer Six match against Penn. Temple will head to Duke (Sept. 9), La Salle (Sept. 13) and Fordham (9/17).
- Temple is coming off 10-4-4, 3-1-4 season where they finished fourth in the conference and were named the Philadelphia Soccer Six Champions.
- Sagel and Martinelli were selected to the 2013 all-conference second teams. Sagel was put on the all-freshmen team.
