Golf Places 13th at the Autotrader.com Collegiate Classic

DULUTH, Ga. – Senior All-American Brandon Matthews shot a three-over 219 as the Temple Golf team placed 13th at the fifth annual AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club Tuesday.
Matthews, who shot a one-over 73 for his final round, led the Owls and tied for 29th among the 88 competitors.
Redshirt freshman John Barone (77-73-78) and freshman Trey Wren (77-75-76) were next for Temple and tied for 65th overall with 12-over 228s. Freshan Sam Soeth (75-79-75, 229) rounded out the Owl scorers, tying for 69th.
Lipscomb, with a 839, won the 14-team tournament by eight strokes over South Florida (847). The Bisons' Dawson Armstrong shot a 65-67-68 for a blistering 16-under par 200 to win the event by eight strokes.
Temple next competes on Monday-Tuesday, October 19-20 at the Georgetown Invitational.
