Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Weekend at ITA Regional Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Temple men's tennis team finished up their fall season this weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Virginia Tech.
In singles, the Owls lost all of their main draw round of 64 matches. Uldazimir Dorash fell to William and Mary's Scott Huang, 6-2, 6-2 while Santiago Canete was defeated by Virginia Tech's Joao Monteiro, 6-0, 6-3. Artem Kapshuk lost to George Washington's Julius Tverijonas, 6-3, 6-4 and Nicolas Paulus was taken down by the Hokies' Aaron Gomez, 7-6(4), 6-3.
Two Owls picked up wins in the consolation singles round, as Hicham Belkssir defeated Old Dominion's David Botti, 7-5, 6-1 and Filip Stipcic took a victory against Virginia Tech's Rafael Ribas, 6-3, 7-6(4).
In doubles play, Dorash and Belkssir fell to Tverijonas and his partner, Danil Zelenkov, 8-6, while Canete and Stipcic were defeated by VCU's Louis Ishizaka and Vitor Lima, 8-6.
The Owls will resume their season in in the spring, when they take on City Six rival Villanova on January 21.
