PHILADELPHIA – In its second conference matchup of the season, Temple men's soccer is set to host USF tomorrow afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. The game will be played at Villanova's Higgins Soccer Complex.
The Owls are looking to pick up their first conference victory after falling 3-2 in their conference opener to Cincinnati last weekend. During the match, Jorge Gomez Sanchez and Matt Mahoney each logged a goal and were named to the weekly conference honor roll for their efforts.
Gomez Sanchez continues to make his stand in the national ranks. As of Sept, 29, Gomez Sanchez leads the nation in both total points (25) and game-winning goals (5). He is ranked second in goals per game (1.10), points per game (2.50) and total goals (11). His average 4.70 shots per game ranks third.
Freshman Belal Mohamed was also named to the weekly honor roll after his first career goal in the Owls' match against La Salle on Sept. 23.
In their last match, the Owls ended a double overtime battle in a 0-0 draw with Delaware on the road. Through a full 110 minutes, Alex Cagle was able to log six saves and keep the Blue Hens out of the net.
Tomorrow's match will be the fourth meeting between the two teams. In 2014, USF walked away with a 3-0 shutout over the Owls.
