Mathews Sixth Place Finish Leads Golf at Georgetown Intercollegiate

BEALLSVILLE, Md. – Senior All-American Brandon Matthews posted his second Top 10 finish of the fall season, placing sixth overall with a three-over 145 to lead Temple to a 10th place finish at the 31st Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate Tuesday. The invitational was held at The Members Club at Four Streams.

Redshirt freshman John Barone was next for the Owls with an eight-over 150 to tie for 15th among the 68-player field. Freshmen Sam Soeth (159, t51st) and Trey Wren (162, t59th) completed the Temple scorers with freshman Gary McCabe (164, 65th) rounding out the Cherry and White quintet.

Princeton took home the team title with a 592, three shots better than runner-up Rhode Island (595). Illinois State (598) was third followed by Georgetown (599), Richmond (600), William and Mary (600), DePaul (601), Navy (614), Weber State (615), Temple (616), Saint Joseph's (625) and Brown (626).

Temple concludes the fall portion of its schedule at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite next weekend (Oct. 29-31).
