AMBLER, Pa. – Temple men's soccer dropped its fifth conference match Wednesday afternoon, falling 2-0 to UConn. The Owls now stand at 9-5-2 overall with only two games left in the regular season.

Despite outshooting the Huskies 7-4 through the match, the Owls were unable to find the back of the net. Joonas Jokinen and Justin Stoddart showed the best chances with their shots being saved by the Huskies' goalkeeper.

The Owls held the Huskies to only one shot in the first half, with the first 45 minutes ending without a score from either team. In the 68th minute, UConn got on the board with a goal from Abdou Thiam that he slid into the bottom left corner of the net.

Thiam scored the second goal for the Huskies, catching a pass on a breakaway by Kwame Awuah. Goalkeeper Alex Cagle logged two saves despite allowing two goals in the match.

Jokinen took an impressive shot on target halfway through the first half that was saved by Huskies' goalkeeper Scott Levene.

Looking to knock in an equalizer in the second half, Stoddart caught a ball in the center of the box from a dual effort by Matt Mahoney and Jared Martinelli that was saved by the fingertips of Levene.

The Owls now prepare for their final home match of the season this Saturday, Oct. 24, when they will host Cincinnati. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be the second matchup of the season between the Owls and the Bearcats.
