10.23.15 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer is set to face off against Cincinnati for the second time this season in the Owls' final home game of the season. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. and the Owls' four graduating seniors will be honored prior to the start of the game.
Dalton Andrusko, Patrick Lestingi, Jared Martinelli, and Josh Tagland will play their last match at the Ambler Sports Complex after contributing to 32 total wins over the past four years. They have also helped in earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the past three years.
Temple is also set to honor its 1985 NCAA team for the 30th anniversary of its record-breaking season. The team posted a 14-0-2 regular season mark and was ranked 11th in the nation. Facing off at Penn State in the second round of the NCAA tournament, the Nittany Lions advanced by penalty kicks following a 5-5 tie at the end of regulation.
The current Owls enter Saturday's match after falling to UConn, 2-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The team was able to log seven shots in goal-scoring range, but could not find the back of the net.
Overall, the team stands at 9-5-2 after kicking off the season with its best start since 1985. The Owls saw a six-game win streak to open their 2015 campaign, including a 2-0 shutout over a ranked Penn State team.
Saturday's match will be the second matchup between the Owls and the Bearcats this season. On Sept. 26, Temple traveled to Gettler Stadium where the Owls fell 3-2 to Cincinnati in their conference-opener.
The overall series between the two teams is now tied 2-2.
