Golf Tied for 12th after Day One at Visit Stockton Pacific Invite

STOCKTON, Calif. – Senior All-American Brandon Matthews shot a four-over 75 on the first day of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite at the Stockton Country Club Thursday to lead the Temple Golf team to a 12th place tie among the 16 competing teams.
Matthews is tied for 22nd overall, six shots off the pace set by UC Irvine's David Kim (69).
Freshmen Trey Wren was one shot back and tied for 31st with a five-over 76. Sophomore Evan Thornton carded a 70 to tie for 62nd while freshman Sam Soeth (81) and redshirt freshman John Barone (83) rounded out the Owls, in 74th and 83rd place respectively.
Long Beach State led the field with a 292. They were followed by Denver (297), Pacific (299), Sacramento State (299), UC Irvine (299), CSU-Fullerton (303), CSU-Northridge (303), Nevada (304), Utah Valley (305), UC Riverside (307), Fresno State (310), BYU (311), Temple (311), UT-Rio Grande Valley (311), Grand Canyon (312) and CSU-Bakersfield (318).
